Stricken Tow Truck Driver Crashes Into Tree Off Route 17

A tow truck crashed into a tree just off Route 17 in Paramus when its driver suffered what responders said was a medical episode Tuesday afternoon.

A paramedic team from the Valley Hospital tended to the driver from Criger's Auto Body in Fairfield near the former Barnes & Noble at the intersection of Glen Avenue and the southbound highway before taking him back with them.

Paramus police and EMS assisted.A heavy-duty tow truck removed the damaged vehicle from the scene.
